Your Event... Your Way... The ONLY Way!
We offer tastefully simple to elegantly audacious events executed the way you want.

This page explains what we do and what our time commitment is to you.

Why hire Good Knight Entertainment? As indicated on the home page, Because you are worth it! We believe that our clients are worth the investment of a DJ with the proper insurance; a legal music library; a legitimate business license; a comprehensive guarantee; the ability to provide a visibly unique experience at your party without being in your face; the ability to give you and your guests a great time by playing the music that you and your guests desire; and many more features that are dictated by past client feedback. We also believe that potential clients should be able to easily research their prospective DJs via third party sites.

What services do we perform for you?

We are your Event Coordinator: Your DJ works directly with you and your other vendors to make sure everything works like clockwork. Since your event is special to you and, for the most part is completely unrehearsed, having a professional handle the details makes all the difference in the world.

We are your Master/Mistress of Ceremonies: A professional Master/Mistress of Ceremonies will keep guests well informed and interested throughout the event, without distracting the attention from the guest of honor of the event.

We bring our extensive Music Library: Most events last four hours and in that time you can program approximately 60 songs. If you were able to use 2 songs per CD you would have to to purchase 30 CDs at least and this only guarantees your choices and does not guarantee the choices of your guests. Good Knight Entertainment comes with much more than this in our library; more than enough to keep you and your guests happy for more than four hours if need be.

We are your Music Programming Artist: The most obvious thing your DJ does is program exactly the appropriate music at the exact moment for your specific event. We look at what your guests are doing, honor your requests, consider the time of day or night, evaluate the event in general and use our many years' of experience to play just the right song at the right moment.

We are your Audio Technician: We are experienced audio technicians, able to design and troubleshoot professional sound systems. Since every DJ sound system is custom-designed, our understanding of these complicated systems is crucial and we are able to step in at any time to trouble shoot a problem.

We provide your Audio Equipment: This is a top-quality audio system including delivery, set-up and testing with integral back-up. Understand that contrary to what some people may tell you, you cannot get a good room-filling sound with a home stereo without making your guest's ears bleed on the dance floor and those in the back will barely be able to hear the music. There are a few home systems on the market that may let you slip by, but these systems usually cost more than $10,000 and those who own them are very reluctant to tear them apart to bring them to your party; which leaves the most economical choice of using a DJ.

We are your Equipment Handler: Almost every live show has a professional equipment handling team to transport and set-up the equipment. Union scale for this is $25/hr. This cost considers drive time plus set-up and tear down.

But, what else?

For most event types we invest up to 17 hours before your event day even arrives.

Here is what we our time commitment includes:

Site Appointment: This is our actual visit to the place you plan to hold your event. We do this for all events and, including travel, it can take up to three hours. We can do this on our own; however, it would be very much appreciated if you were there as well to be able to relate any special ideas you may have.

Consultation and Face to Face Planning: This includes all types of consultation we do with you and the amount of time is limited only by the amount of time we physically have. It can include actual face to face planning, e-mail conversations, and phone conversations. It also includes the finalization meeting that we plan with you to finalize all of the details of your event. This generally averages out to about six hours.

Music Research: While we have an extensive music library that we bring to every event, there may be certain unique songs that you want that we do not have. We will do the necessary research to track those songs down and, if they are commercially available, get them for you. This can take up to an hour total.

Itinerary: The itinerary is the plan for your day and we will work with you to lay it out. Once it is approved by you, we will make sure all of your vendors have a copy for their use. This can take up to two hours.

Creating special scripts: Obviously for weddings we will need a special grand entrance script; however, for other events we will need scripts for announcements of VIPs and such. This can take between two and four hours, depending upon the scripts needed.

Creating primary and backup play lists: While you are providing a list of songs that you want for your event, we pre-program it; that is, some songs go well with others and we take your list and order it based on how well the songs fit. This can take up to one hour.

So, as you can see, we have invested up to seventeen hours into your event and that does not even count the interview we may have with you before you hire us. The seventeen hours indicated above happens before your event day.

On the day of your event our time commitment consists of:

Travel: This includes loading the equipment into the vehicle, travel to the venue, loading the equipment into the venue, unloading out of the venue after the event is done, putting it all back into the vehicle, and travel back home. This can take between two to four hours.

Set Up: This is the actual set up of hour equipment at the venue, sound and microphone checks, change of clothing if necessary, and strike of our equipment after the event is over. This is a minimum of two hours.

So, if you add the travel and set up in you are now looking at an additional six hours for a grand total of 23 hours. Add a four to five hour performance in and our total time commitment to you becomes 27 to 28 hours, or more.

All of this is included in our price and we do not shirk on our time commitment to you.

But the above is only the tip of the iceberg. Other things happen that may not necessarily be attributed to your event but will make your event better as a result. Some examples include:

Equipment: No DJ is completely happy with our system. We are constantly looking to build that ultimate system that will knock everybody's socks off. As a result, we are constantly looking at trade magazines, DJ boards, and so on to tweak our sound or lighting system for the ultimate experience.

Music: New hits come out almost constantly and we always keep our ears open for the one that will fill the floor at the next event. Additionally, we also keep your play list in mind and we are ready to give you suggestions based on new hits that can enhance your experience.

Interactive Activities: That is, games and line dances. As part of our knowledge sharing networks there is always some new interactive activity available that could enhance your experience. This is all about keeping our performance fresh and exciting and if we see something that could make your experience special we bring it to your attention.

Additionally, we are constantly looking back at our library to see if there are oldies you may have missed or looking at other songs that can be used to enhance your play list. We also listen to your play list so that we can better program it for you; that is, make a better determination of what goes together and what does not.

Now, when you think about it, what is all of this really worth to you? Before hiring your entertainment, wouldn't it be a good idea to ask if they do these things and if they don't, what are you really paying for?
