Newark's Iron Hill Museum is set in a 1923 schoolhouse and has geology exhibits that display rare rocks and minerals. Over 16,000 students spend their days at the University of Delaware, and visitors can enjoy a 90-minute guided tour of this elm-lined campus. A popular attraction at the university is the University of Delaware Botanic Garden, which showcases an array of trees, shrubs, plants and flowers in several different garden areas. Just north of Newark is White Clay Creek State Park, which affords hiking, biking and fishing opportunities.
